The Hart Habitats shop sits on San Carlos Street between 5th and 6th Avenue in Carmel-by-the-Sea — antiques, modern and vintage furniture and home decor, open every day but Tuesday.
Inside is a changing collection of antiques, modern and vintage furniture, lighting, textiles and home decor. Pieces are chosen the same way we choose them for clients — for character and quality rather than to match a single look — so the shop reads as an extension of the interiors we design.
Antiques run in the family. Kristina’s mother, Hildegunn Hawley, ran Hildegunn Hawley Antiques in Carmel-by-the-Sea from 1985, specializing in 18th- and 19th-century European and Asian pieces. Hart Habitats carries that tradition forward, mixing those finds with modern and vintage furniture and decor.
The collection turns over constantly as new pieces arrive, so it is always worth a look when you are shopping in Carmel-by-the-Sea. If you are hunting for something specific — a dining table, a pair of lamps, a chest for an entryway — get in touch and we will keep an eye out. The shop also supplies many of the pieces used in our interior design projects.
